मस्तिष्क के आवरण में जलन होना, उनमें से खून बहने का डर लगना या दूषित द्रव का स्राव (बहना) हो रहा हो तो ऐसे लक्षणों में हेलिबोरस नाइजर औषधि का उपयोग करना चाहिए। रोगी अधिक चिल्ला रहा हो तथा चिल्लाने के साथ ही अपना सिर तकिये पर इधर-उधर पटक रहा हो, दिमाग काम करना बन्द कर देता है, गहरी नींद आती है और जितना पानी मिलता है वह पी लेता है, माथे पर से ठण्डा पसीना निकलता है, माथे पर सिकुड़न सी होती है। इस प्रकार के लक्षणों से पीड़ित रोगी का जबड़ा इस प्रकार हिलता-डुलता है जैसे वह कोई चीज चबा रहा हो, उसकी पुतिलयां फैल जाती हैं और देखने, सुनने की शक्ति कम हो जाती है। रोगी की एक जांघ और एक बांह लगातार हिलती ही रहती है परन्तु दूसरी स्थिर पड़ी रहती है जैसे उसमें लकवा मार गया हो, ऐसे रोगी को या तो पेशाब होता ही नहीं या होता भी है तो बहुत कम मात्रा में, कभी-कभी पेशाब की तली में कॉफी की तरह काले रंग का चूर्ण भी आता है। इन सभी लक्षणों पर ध्यान देने से पता चलता है कि रोगी के रोग को ठीक करने की आशा कम ही है और इस अवस्था में यदि रोगी का ठीक औषधि से उपचार नहीं हुआ तो रोगी के शरीर में अकड़न पैदा होकर तथा बेहोशी आकर उसकी मृत्यु हो जायेगी। इस प्रकार की अवस्था में यदि रोगी का उपचार हेलीबोरस नाइजर औषधि से की जाती है तो रोगी पूरी तरह से ठीक हो जाता है। इस औषधि से उपचार करने पर सबसे पहले रोगी की पेशाब करने की मात्रा बढ़ जाती है तथा इसके बाद धीरे-धीरे सभी लक्षण ठीक होने लगते हैं।
